Ranch Life

Curd Ranch

The Back 40

After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area during my Healtheon / WebMD days, I decided that the intensity of leading advanced technology organizations (particularly advanced healthcare technology organizations) needed a counterbalance.  So with days filled with investor discussions, board meetings, quick decisions, and customer issues, I recharge my personal batteries by spending time with my wife on our working horse ranch just south of San Jose.  Although there was a time that we were both more active in the ranch operations, we have since scaled our ranching back.  But we still find time to keep the grounds up, maintain a vegetable garden, and manage a flock of chickens.  Horses are always on the property, but (thankfully) they now belong to others.  Nevertheless, we are still known to saddle up for short rides every now and then.

So from time to time we’ll share our thoughts on various topics of country living interest, and help you learn to from some of our hard lessons should you decide to retire to a working ranch, or perhaps just put a few chickens in your back yard.  And, of course, we are always happy to brag a bit about the quality of this year’s heirloom tomatoes, or cucumbers, or fresh eggs…as well as answer any questions that you send our way.
