Research Projects

As a full blown, certifiable nerd, I am always programming / soldering / prototyping or experimenting with something. Sometimes it’s driven out of pure intellectual curiosity; but in other cases it is quite purposeful. My career passion is thinking of ways to improve the health and well-being for people, focusing on the intersection of technology enablers, clinical advancements, and the context of the healthcare industry. Of course that intersection is highly dynamic and continues to shift: for example, the emergence of low-cost accelerometers which enabled fitness bands; Bluetooth 4.0-based inexpensive, low-power monitoring and communications solutions; and legislation which has created new impetus for healthcare organizations to worry about (and fund) our well-being outside of the hospital. Each of these changes are important individually, but combined create a significant source of innovation. I’ll update my blog from time to time with the results of some of my more interesting experiments!
