Vintage Computing

atari_800_schematic

Since the 1970’s, I have been developing, tinkering, hacking, and collecting microprocessor-based devices.  Starting with an Altair 8800 (which I assembled for Fort Osage High School in 1975), through my “Atari Developer Days”, to my first Macintosh SE, and up through today, I continue to keep important artifacts of ancient technology alive.  This is primarily an homage to the modern day miracles that change our lives on a daily basis — where would we be without our iPhone or Android?  Or video game consoles?  Or MacBooks?  Even our watches are built on technologies which emerged in the ’70’s.

So occasionally I get the irresistible urge to boot up (and write about) that ol’ Mac G4 Cube, or the 6502 assembler to dash out a simple vintage game, or write a new program for that HP 41C calculator…  Don’t say you weren’t warned!
